About the book: Designed as an elementary work of English grammar (though written in Bengali) for the use of ‘our little boys’, the book was approved by the central text-book Committee. The author, Head Master of Ripon Collegiate School, wrote in the preface: “I have endeavoured in this small work to embody all the matters that are essentially necessary for them to learn and have avoided to deal with Punctuation and Prosody with a view not to over-burden their memory.”
Divided into three parts and several lessons, the book includes chapters on orthography, etymology and on the different parts of speech. Exercises are appended at the end of each lesson to test the pupil’s knowledge.
