About: This illustrated juvenile periodical presented a colourful combination of mythological tales, lighthearted poems, amusing stories, articles on general science and pieces on the British monarchs. Some of the authors writing for Shishu were Yogindranath Sarkar, Kartikchandra Dasgupta, Shibratan Mitra, Hariprasanna Dasgupta and Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumdar.
Illustrations: Illustrated with blocks as well as photographs and line drawings in half-tone prints. The periodical claimed to print coloured pictures on every page for children. Most of the full page illustrations were engraved and printed by K.V. Seyne & Bros.
