A collection of five folk/fairy tales, the volume was intended to provide pleasurable reading as well as moral education to the pupils of Niti Bidyalay - a Sunday school run by Shastri and some of his close associates. The stories are translations or adaptations of Grimms’ marchens or Andersen’s fairy tales, for example, ‘Kathurer Meye’ and ‘Hatkata Meye’ are translations of  ‘The Woodcutter’s Child’ and ‘The Handless Maiden’ respectively while ‘Hansarupi Rajputra’ is a Bengali version of ‘The Wild Swans’.
